ANY PREVIOUS COSMETIC TATTOO ON THE EYES MUST SUBMIT PHOTOS PRIOR TO APPOINTMENT FOR APPROVAL.
Points of Note:
Every client’s skin responds differently to these treatments, and this information acts as a guideline only
***There are no implied or written guarantees if you do not follow the pre and post care instructions!***
You must remember that even though this procedure isn't a traditional tattoo, it still involves piercing/breaking the skin and depositing of pigments. Assuring you're a proper candidate and following all instructions, both pre and post-care, is imperative for both safety and efficacy.
Please, make sure you also review aftercare instructions. Two sessions are needed for a lasting effect. Yearly touch-ups are recommended to maintain your look.
-All permanent cosmetics procedures are multi-session processes. You are required to come back for at least one touch-up visit before it can be determined that your work is complete. Touch-up visits are scheduled at 6-8 weeks.
-Be prepared for the color intensity of your procedure to be significantly sharper,
brighter, or darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition, based upon how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates.
While these tattooed colors may initially simulate the exact color and tone desired, they will not always remain a perfect match. Tattooed colors are constant, while your own skin color will vary depending on exposure to cold, heat, sun and circulatory changes.
-If you have oily skin, your results WILL appear softer.
-Clients with darker skin (Indian, African American, Filipino, etc.), Please know that eye liners WILL NOT appear as defined or as dark as lighter skin types due to the skin color already being naturally darker.
The day of your appointment?
If for any reason you decide not to proceed with the permanent cosmetic tattoo service on the day of your appointment, the above-mentioned $100 to $200 deposit will become a cancellation and not be refunded.
A skin patch test is offered to every client who may have concerns about rare allergic reactions to ink/pigments used for service's. As the client you can accept or decline patch test. If you accept patch test client will have to wait 3 to 7 days before proceeding with service to make sure no allergic reactions occur.
Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden, some clients feel it is best not to make any social plans for a day or two following any procedure. It is always best to avoid these procedures within months prior to important life events such as weddings. Procedures may take longer than expected to be complete under some circumstances.
If you’ve ever hired a professional painter, they will tell you that “it’s all in the prep”. Professional painters know that they get the best results when they spend extra time sanding, filling holes, making sure edges are smooth and applying the right primer. Well, permanent cosmetics is very similar. You will get much better results when you properly prep.

EYE POST PROCEDURE
It is important for you to read aftercare instructions. Please ready carefully!
DAY 1: Relax! Eyelids may be puffy for a few days. Itching is also common. THIS IS NORMAL.
Makeup remover pads dipped in ice water can feel very soothing apply for 10 minutes on then off for 20 minutes. Repeat process for the first 1 to 4 hours. The ice is used to reduce swelling and provide comfort. After the first 24 hours the use of ice is no longer beneficial.
Sleeping slightly elevated can help reduce any residual swelling and puffiness of the eyes. Also do not use your best pillowcases for the first two night. A satin pillowcase is a great option instead of a cotton pillowcase.
DAY 1-3: Swelling, sticky and or crusty residue sometimes occurs the following morning after your procedure. In the morning if eyes are stuck together, use a wet Q-tip or clean warm wet cloth and gently separate. Do NOT rub, peel or pick! Keep area clean and use aquaphor (provided) or other ointment given sparingly. Do not let eyeliner become dry in the first 72 hours.
Do NOT wear contact lenses within 48 hours following eyeliner procedure. Remember to bring your glasses. You may resume wearing your contact lenses as soon as your eyes return to their pre-tattooed condition.
DAY 1-14: For the first 3-14 days post-treatment, the colour intensity will be significantly more dramatic (brighter or darker), as well as larger and sharper and more defined than what is expected for your final outcome. Although the area will appear healed after 10-14 days, it will not be fully healed for 4-6 weeks (up to 8 weeks for lips). The speed of your result will be based on how the outer layer of your skin exfoliates.
Shedding your color and outer epidermal skin is normal during the first week or two (3 to 14 days) following treatment. Flaking, scabs falling off is normal old skin is shedding off as new skin cells are regenerating. At the end of 4 weeks, your procedure should be healed.
1: Apply ointment (aquaphor or other ointment given) once in the morning A.M., once mid day and once in the evening P.M. for 1 to 10 days. Too much ointment tends to run into the eyes and can blur your vision. If you are sensitive to ointment or you cannot keep it out of your eyes, do not use.
Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. NEVER put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
One procedure cannot guarantee desired outcome. In some cases, we need to see how our clients' skin works with the pigment and review the healing process after the first procedure. A required touch-up visit is to be scheduled no sooner than 4 weeks and no greater than 8 weeks after your initial procedure. In more complex cases (including removal, colour correction, camouflage, scar tissue, or iron disorders/deficiencies) an extra charge may apply on touch-ups.
2: NO soap, shampoo, cleansers on tattoo for 7-14 days. Avoid direct shower spray on procedure area for 7-14 days. Soap and cleansers are designed to remove any foreign substances. Obviously, this is detrimental to the bonding process required for the pigment to become permanent.
3: Limit your showers to 5-8 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair and let shampoo run down your back, not your face. Pat area dry if needed.
All cleansing should be done with a clean Q-tip dipped in cool water and gently dabbed on the treated area. Do not rub the area in any way.
4: Do not expose your healing skin to direct sun light, hot weather for 7 to 14 days, tanning beds, hot tubs, saunas, salt water or chlorinated pools.
5: Try to avoid crying or exercise for the first 7-14 days. Sweat is made of saline and removes the pigment that we have just implanted into your skin.
6: Do not expose your healing skin to skin creams, ointments or lotions other than what you have been instructed to use for the first 7-14 days following your procedure.
7: Do not expose your healing skin to eyelash growth serums such as Latisse, LashXS etc... Wait 2 weeks to begin using again.
8: Do not wear makeup directly on procedure area for the first 7-14 days. This rule applies also to non-allergic makeup, as it may contain chemicals that interfere with the bonding process. If or whenever you do begin using cosmetics again, invest in a new mascara to support your new look. This will eliminate the possibility of bacteria breeding in an old container.
9: Eyes are sensitive to pet dander, gardening, dust and dirty hands. Do not touch procedure area with dirty hands, after all it is a opened wound. Sunglasses add protection.
10: Any eyelash or eyebrow tinting or eyelash curling/extensions should be done after two weeks from procedure date.
11: Eyes heal very well. However very rarely the possibility of secondary infection like conjunctivitis can occur. You may rinse with sterile saline eyewash and seek medical attention for an antibiotic steroid eye drop. Although very rare, if you believe medical attention is necessary please notify Laura Sutherland at Ink Haven Studio and seek medical attention should you experience any of the following symptoms: redness around your eyes, drainage or pain that becomes increasingly worse.

Long-Term Care - for all procedures:
- Using a quality sunscreen daily will help prolong the health of your skin! UV light quickly fades tattoo ink and so a daily use sunscreen will help it stay looking fresher, longer.
- Some of our pigments are iron-oxide based, which your body will slowly absorb as mineral irons. This means the colour will fade over time. You will likely need a touch-up every 1-3 years. The speed of fading is dependant on your skin type and daily habits.
- Avoid applying Retin A®, Renova®, Retinol, Alpha Hydroxy or Glycolic Acid products directly to the tattooed area after they are healed. These products can lighten the tattoo.
- Do not do laser near your eye area. Some lasers may change the color of ink.
- If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform your provider that you have an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo.
